My mom was born in Washington D.C. in 1927, and was adopted and raised as an only child. She raised six of us, for the most part, on her own, selling Avon and turning in empty soda bottles. She refused financial assistance outside of the small child support she received from Dad, but we always had clothes to wear, food to eat, and a home. I remember Mom coming in nightly to listen to our prayers and tuck us each in for the night.
Mom, you had a rough time, but you always managed somehow and no matter what, we always knew you loved us. Thank you, Mom, for loving us and being willing to struggle through to make it. I love you, Mom.
Special updated note: This page was initially intended as a Mother's Day gift to her and for awhile, many visitors had the impression that my mom had passed away. Though for several years, that wasn't the case, as of today, 12/30/2003, very early in the morning, before dawn, my mom left this world to be with the Lord. I miss you and love you, Mom! |
