Welcome to my reading room. Here you will read about the books through which I discovered my love for the Victorian era, from the elegance of the time, to style of home furnishings, to the style of clothing! Gentlemen were to be gentlemen and ladies were to be ladies.
The books that I display on these pages are, in my opinion, very intriguing mysteries set in the Victorian era. They are also all written by the same author, Anne Perry. They are actually two different series. One series, my personal favorite and the first displayed, features the wonderful Thomas Pitt and his wife, Charlotte. Charlotte! Now there's a lady! I won't give any of the good stuff away. You should really read these yourself to really appreciate them. However, Charlotte had a way of getting involved in many of Thomas's cases. Not only that, but many times her sister, a mutual close lady friend, and even Charlotte's maid, from time to time, were drawn into things!
Woven into the mysteries, are also descriptions of the fashion of the day, the differences and the similarities of the "upper class" the "middle class" and the "lower class", and a bit of romance. As with most mysteries, the process of solving them always seemed to uncover skeletons in several closets! It can be very surprising, even shocking, to find out who has what secrets to hide!
The following pages are just brief previews of the some of these gripping mysteries. Though I don't have the very first included in these briefs, I would recommend that you do start them, as with any series, with the first written, so that you can enjoy the characters to the fullest.
